And leading the pack — in one of the most dominant performances in recent JEE Advanced history — is Shubham Kumar from the IIT Delhi zone, who has secured All India Rank 1 (AIR 1) with a stunning score of 330 out of 360 marks.

Shubham Kumar did not just top JEE Advanced 2026. He anchored a clean sweep for the IIT Delhi zone, which placed all three candidates at the very top of the national rankings.

Shubham Kumar from Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh secured All India Rank (AIR) 1 by scoring 330 out of 360 marks. His strong showing in both JEE Main and JEE Advanced highlights remarkable consistency across two of India's most challenging engineering entrance exams. 

Education from two prestigious educational institutes — Sherwood College, Nainital and DPS Dwarka — has helped Shubham hone many skills since the beginning and strengthen his fundamentals and knowledge of many subjects. 

Shubham was no stranger to the top of the rankings even before today. In JEE Main 2026 Session 1, Shubham Kumar had scored 295 marks and was among the top performers nationally. His JEE Advanced score of 330 marks represents an exceptional command of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics — the three subjects that define the examination. 

When asked about the result, Shubham reflected on what the achievement means. Scoring 91.67% of the maximum marks in what is widely regarded as one of the world's toughest undergraduate entrance examinations is a feat that very few achieve in any generation.

Kumar scored 330 out of 360, with Kabir Chhillar at 329 and Jatin Chahar at 319 rounding out the podium — all three from the IIT Delhi zone.

Female Topper: Arohi Deshpande Blazes the Trail

Arohi Deshpande of IIT Delhi zone is the top-ranked female candidate, achieving CRL Rank 77 with a score of 280 out of 360 marks. 

Arohi's score of 280 marks — 77.78% of the maximum — and a CRL rank of 77 places her comfortably in the top 100 nationally across all genders combined. Her performance places her comfortably among the country's best engineering aspirants.

Among the total qualified candidates, 10,107 are female candidates — a number that, while still a fraction of overall qualifiers, represents a steadily growing trend of women entering India's premier engineering institutions.

Category-Wise Toppers

In the OBC-NCL category, Jatin Chahar secured Rank 1. He belongs to the IIT Delhi zone and scored 319 out of 360 marks, also holding CRL Rank 3 in the Common Rank List. I

The result was officially declared by IIT Roorkee on June 1, 2026, at jeeadv.ac.in, along with category-specific rank lists for OBC-NCL, GEN-EWS, SC, ST, and PwD candidates.

JEE Advanced 2026 Qualifying Cut-Off Marks

To be included in the Common Rank List (CRL) and considered for IIT admissions, candidates must clear the qualifying cut-off. According to the official update, the qualifying cut-off is 25.56% for the General category, 22.78% for OBC-NCL/EWS, and 12.78% for SC/ST/PwD candidates. For the Common Rank List (CRL), the minimum marks required are 92, with a minimum aggregate score of 8 in each subject for the GEN-EWS Rank List. 

Remember: these are qualifying cut-offs — the minimum to be included in the rank list. For actual IIT seat allotment, you need a rank that falls within each IIT's branch-specific closing rank, which varies by institute and programme.

Checking your result is quick and straightforward. Follow these steps:

Step 3: Enter your JEE Advanced Roll Number, Date of Birth, and Registered Mobile Number

Step 4: Click Submit — your scorecard will appear on screen

What Does the JEE Advanced 2026 Scorecard Contain?

The JEE Advanced 2026 scorecard will include marks obtained in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics, along with the aggregate marks and qualifying status. It will also show your All India Rank (AIR) and category rank, which are the numbers you will need for JoSAA counselling.

What Happens Next: JoSAA Counselling 2026

Qualifying JEE Advanced is step one. Getting into your dream IIT is step two — and that happens through JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counselling.

Candidates who have qualified JEE Advanced 2026 will have to appear for JoSAA counselling for admission to 121 institutes, including 23 Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), 31 National Institutes of Technology (NITs), IIEST Shibpur, 26 IIITs and 40 Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs).

JoSAA 2026 counselling begins on June 2, 2026 — just one day after today's result declaration. Here's a quick guide to the process:

Step 1 — Register: Log in to josaa.nic.in with your JEE Advanced roll number

Step 2 — Choice Filling: List your preferred IIT branches and programmes in order of preference — the system allows up to 25,000 combinations across all IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. Always prioritise by your genuine preference, not just by prestige. A branch you like at a lesser IIT often beats a branch you dislike at a top IIT. 

Step 3 — Seat Allotment: Seats are allotted based on your AIR, category, and choice order across multiple rounds

Step 4 — Document Verification and Fee Payment: Accept your seat and pay the seat acceptance fee — ₹45,000 for General/OBC-NCL/EWS and ₹20,000 for SC/ST/PwD candidates 

Step 5 — Reporting: Report to your allotted IIT for document verification and admission formalities

The Hardest Numbers: What 56,880 Means

Step back for a moment and consider what these numbers mean.

Of the 1,79,694 candidates who sat both papers of the exam on May 17, only 56,880 made the cut — roughly one in three. 

And those 1,79,694 students were themselves an elite group — they had already cleared JEE Main 2026, clearing a cutoff of 93.41 percentile for General (UR) category from a pool of over a million JEE Main applicants. 

So the pipeline looks like this:

A Word to Students Who Did Not Qualify

If you appeared and did not qualify — this is not the end of your story.

Candidates who did not make the cut still have options. NITs, IIITs and state engineering institutions admit students through JEE Main scores. India's NIT system — 31 institutions across the country — produces engineers who lead companies, build startups, and change the world every single year. 

Some of India's most successful engineers, entrepreneurs, and innovators did not attend an IIT. What they had was persistence — and you still have that.
