Hyderabad, August 1, 2025 — In a landmark move to bolster higher education infrastructure in Telangana, the State Government has officially sanctioned the establishment of a University College of Engineering under Telangana University, Nizamabad. The approval, issued by the Higher Education Department through G.O.Ms.No.32 dated 31st July 2025, marks a significant step forward in expanding technical education in the northern region of the state.
As per the Government Order, the newly established engineering college will commence operations from the Academic Year 2025-2026, offering four cutting-edge undergraduate programmes:
B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE)
B.Tech in Computer Science and Engineering – Artificial Intelligence (CSE – AI)
B.Tech in Computer Science & Information Technology (CSE & IT)
B.Tech in Data Science
Each programme will have an initial intake of 60 students, aimed at equipping the youth with skills in high-demand technology sectors.
This decision comes following detailed representations from the Registrar of Telangana University, Nizamabad, and the Telangana State Council of Higher Education (TSCHE). The State Government, after thoroughly examining the proposals and recommendations—especially those cited in letters dated between April 4 and July 29, 2025—has accorded the administrative sanction necessary for initiating the college and its programmes.
In her official communication, Dr. Yogita Rana, Secretary to Government, emphasized the importance of this initiative, noting that it reflects the government’s commitment to making technical education more accessible in tier-2 cities. The Registrar of Telangana University, Nizamabad, has been directed to take all necessary follow-up action for operationalizing the college.
Strategic Educational Investment in North Telangana
The move is seen as a strategic push to decentralize higher education and promote regional development. Nizamabad, a city with growing industrial potential and a young population, is expected to benefit economically and socially from the establishment of this institution.
Educational experts say the inclusion of specializations like AI and Data Science underlines the forward-looking vision of the administration, ensuring that students are trained in disciplines aligned with the future demands of the global digital economy.
This initiative also supports the Telangana State Government's broader agenda of skill development, digital empowerment, and job creation through robust public higher education institutions.
