Srishti Kiran: Bengaluru's 13-Year-Old Makes History as World No. 1 in Under-13 Tennis

In a historic breakthrough for Indian tennis, 13-year-old Srishti Kiran from Bengaluru has ascended to the World No. 1 ranking in the Under-13 category on the ITF World Tennis Tour Juniors, announcing her arrival as one of the most promising young talents in global tennis.

The International Tennis Federation announced the ranking on June 9, 2026, marking a watershed moment for junior tennis in India. Srishti achieved this milestone despite competing in two fewer counting tournaments than her closest rivals, accumulating points through an unprecedented streak of victories that has stunned the international tennis community.

A Record-Breaking Campaign

Srishti's journey to the top of the world rankings has been fueled by five consecutive ITF junior singles titles — a feat rarely accomplished at her age. Her fourth consecutive title came at the J30 tournament in Huamantla, Mexico, held January 19–25, 2026, where she defeated Canada's Natalie Tsatsalashvili 6-4, 6-1 in the final.

Just weeks earlier, she secured her third ITF crown at the same Mexican venue, defeating 17-year-old Tamara Herman 6-4, 6-4. Her breakthrough international title arrived in October 2025 at the ITF J30 in Cabarete, Dominican Republic, where she dominated the Caribbean circuit.

"In the week of October 20, she captured the singles title at the ITF J30 Cabarete, and followed it up by sweeping both the singles and doubles crowns in the next week,"reported her coaches at the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association (KSLTA). "Srishti's unbeaten run saw her win every match in straight sets across the two events."

Her most dominant performance came in the singles final, where she overpowering Canada's seventh-seed Camille Michel 6-0, 6-1 — a scoreline that underscored her technical superiority over older competitors.

From Karnataka Courts to Florida's Elite Training

Srishti's tennis journey began at an unusually early age — four and a half years old — at the Karnataka State Lawn Tennis Association in Bengaluru. Her early achievements include becoming the youngest player to win back-to-back All India Tennis Association U-10 Championships.

The pivotal moment arrived in August 2023, when Srishti represented India at the Asian Tennis Federation U-12 Girls' Team Championship finals. She remained unbeaten throughout the tournament, playing a crucial role in helping India clinch its first-ever ATF U-12 Girls' Team Championship crown.

"That unbeaten performance at the ATF championship was the breakthrough,"said a KSLTA mentor. "Her coaches and mentors credit her success to her disciplined training and an unwavering competitive spirit."

Her performances on the Asian circuit caught international attention. Spotted at the ATF's Orange Ball program, she was scouted for training at the prestigious RPS Academy in Florida under world-renowned coach Gabe Jaramillo — a mentorship that has transformed her into a global contender.

"Srishti laid a strong foundation in Bengaluru before moving to the RPS Academy in Florida, where she is refining her training and balancing academics with an intensive on-court schedule,"her coaches explained.

What the Ranking Means

At 13, Srishti carries a career-best ITF Junior ranking of No. 357 — a distinction that positions her as a legitimate contender on the international junior circuit. She was previously ranked No. 16 in India's U-14 Girls category before her meteoric rise.

Her achievement carries particular significance:

Five consecutive ITF titles — a streak including a J100 final in Guatemala

World No. 1 despite fewer tournaments— achieved despite competing in two fewer counting events than rivals

Youngest Indian girl— one of the youngest Indian players to reach world No. 1 in the junior category

International breakthrough first Indian to win five straight ITF titles at this age level

The Next Challenge

Srishti's immediate goals include performing strongly at the Junior Orange Bowl in Florida, USA, scheduled for December 2025, and the IMG Academy International Tennis Championships, also in Florida, later in 2025. These prestigious events will test her game against the world's best junior players.

There is also speculation about a possible grass-court run in the United Kingdom in 2026 — a potential international breakthrough that could further elevate her profile.

Her personal ambitions remain clear: "Every session on court takes me one step closer to my dream of making India proud on the global tennis stage,"Srishti said.

A New Era for Indian Tennis

Srishti Kiran's rise to World No. 1 in Under-13 tennis represents more than individual glory — it signals a transformation in Indian junior tennis. Her trajectory from Bengaluru's KSLTA to Florida's RPS Academy exemplifies how young Indian players can now access world-class training infrastructure while maintaining competitive edge internationally.

"At just 13, Srishti Kiran is already being hailed as one of India's brightest young tennis prospects,"reported Tribune India. "Ranked No. 16 in India's U-14 Girls category, the Bengaluru-born player has been steadily climbing the junior circuit."

The tennis community watches with anticipation as this Bengaluru prodigy continues her journey toward becoming India's next tennis star on the global stage.

"The tennis world now asks: Is Srishti Kiran India's next Serena Williams? Only time will tell, but at 13, the Bengaluru girl has already written herself into tennis history."
